Country Contest Winner 2003

REMEMBER - Gene Carrington (Cisne, IL) & Louie Cate (Alexandria, VI)

Gene Carrington is a long time songwriter who seeks honesty and originality in all his lyrics and tries to make them believable. He draws from life experiences, his observations of people, and from living life. Some of his greatest musical influences are Hank Williams, Hank Cochran, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson. Gene is not only a songwriter but also a poet and cattle rancher.

Louie Cate is a songwriter from Virginia who met Gene through another songwriting contest where they both were winners but their prizes got mixed up and sent to the wrong recipient. Gene and Louie were left to contact each other to exchange prizes and ten years later they are still co-writing. What is really amazing is that Gene and Louie have never met!
