ASCAP is one of the largest performing rights organizations with over 145,000 U.S. composers, songwriters and publishers of every kind of music and hundreds of thousands worldwide. ASCAP is the only U.S. performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership. ASCAP makes giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators and users of music.

Lyrical Line is one of the largest songwriting communities on the internet. It is a great place to get started or keep going as a songwriter. Lyrical Line is filled with useful information, questions and answers, articles and networking opportunities.

Outbound Music is an internet raio site dedicated to independent artists and songwriters. It is a great place to have your songs heard by others and to gain exposure to a wide audience.

Do Good Music is an especially helpful site for writers and perfromers of Christian music. It provides information and exposure for independent artists. Do Good Music also conducts seminars and workshops around the country for hands-on practical assistance to aspiring writers and musicians.

Indie-Music.com is where serious musicians go to surf. An endless resource for independant artist, musicians and songwriters that provide opportunities for selling your music and getting in touch with others riding the "indie wave" of the music industry. Be sure to sign up for their monthly newsletter that can alert you of music news from whose recording and where to send your demo to new music legislation in Congress.

The Knoxville Songwriters Association meets each tuesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the Board Room of the Candy Factory. A visitor can come twice without joining and paying the $30.00 annual membership fee. Also, critique sessions are held weekly and a visitor may have one song critiqued without joining if the song is borught during the first 2 visits.

The Connecticut Songwriters Association is not only committed to helping songwriters learn the craft and business of songwriting but also in using the the power of popular music to produce positive social action.

The Minnesota Association of Songwriters is a nonprofit, member supported community of songwriters and composers from the Midwest. The MAS mission is to inspire, educate and promote the art and craft of songwriting and music composition.

DSA is a non-profit educational organization which has been around for over 17 years with one purpose: to help the songwriter. We exist to enhance the overall personal growth and professionalism of our members and to serve as a non-political advocate for songwriters and performers in a liaison with peer organizations throughout the country.

The ASG was founded in 1987 by Christine Albert and Tommy Pierce as a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and developing aspiring songwriters. With a membership of approximately 300, the group also provides numerous opportunities for working with publishers, A&R reps and other music industry professionals.

Chicago Harmony and Truth is a 501c3 non-profit organization of diverse music-industry professionals that meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in various locations (check web-site for next meeting location). All meetings are free and open to the public, as a free "taste" of what we're about. Be sure to utilize our on-line Venues database.

The Cahokia Songwriters Association is a supportive group of songwriters from Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri. Monthly meetings are held at the Cahokia Public Library, 140 Cahokia Park Drive, Cahokia, Illinois 62206 the third Tuesday at 7 pm. Our mission is to inspire, help and create better songwriters. We write the songs and the whole world sings.
